FEBRUARY/MARCH

NEW VAN AROUND TOWN

It’s official! We have a new van! After a year-long campaign, with focused efforts led by our “steering committee” during the last 4 months, we have finally purchased a 2015 Ford Transit van with only 19,000 miles for $24,000.00. Heritage Presbyterian’s volunteer site coordinator George Hirst led us to the great find, while Eric Groesser and the people at Nick Abraham Ford worked with us to extend an offer that we just couldn’t refuse. Many thanks go out to all of the people who worked so hard to get us this much needed new van, especially all those involved in the many fundraisers: the Spaghetti Dinner at Heritage Presbyterian Church, Dine To Donate at Martino’s International Café, 20-For-20 Drive at all of our partner churches, St. Paul Westlake Craft Sunday Hunger Drive and the Shades of Love Concert at Lorain Lighthouse UMC. Our greatest appreciation goes to everyone who gave! Thank you for supporting our efforts to care for those in need in our community.

Have a Heart Hygiene Drive

Avon Lake Presbyterian Church held a donation drive during the months of January and February to collect toiletry items for the Cooperative Ministry.  Over 30 bags full of shampoos, soap, toothpaste, tooth brushes, feminine products and toilet paper were collected and given to several of our Food Pantries for distribution.  These are much needed and seldom donated items.  Many thanks to the members of Avon Lake Presbyterian for recognizing the need and giving so generously!

Supporting Our Efforts

Lorain Cooperative Ministry would not be able to provide seven Food Pantries and twelve Hot Meals each month without Grant funding from local Foundations and supporters.  This past month we received generous grants from the Nord Family Foundation and the Episccopal Community Services Development.  We are ever grateful for the recognition and continuing support.
